23 March (HS): A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at
Lok Bhavan on Monday approved 35 important proposals, including wheat
procurement. Following the meeting, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi
announced that the Government of India has set the minimum support price for
wheat at Rs.
2,585 per quintal this year, representing an increase of Rs. 160 per quintal
compared to last year. The cabinet approved this proposal. Wheat procurement
will begin from March 30, 2026, to June 15, 2026. Eight procurement agencies will
conduct procurement within the state. Six thousand 500 procurement centers will
be established throughout the state. Procurement will be conducted through the
FCI, UP Mandi Parishad, PCF, PCU, UPSS, NAFED, and NCCF. Deputy Chief Minister
Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and other ministers
were present at the meeting.
Energy
Minister AK Sharma informed that the proposal of Rs. 2,242.90 crore for the
development of the coal mine allotted by the Government of India in Dumka,
Jharkhand for the power plant has been approved. It is noteworthy that in
conventional energy, there was a provision to install three units of 660 MW
each in Ghatampur Power Plant. Two units have been commissioned. The third is
going to be commissioned soon. For this plant, Pachwara coal mine in Dumka,
Jharkhand was allotted by the Government of India in 2016. The Cabinet has
approved Rs. 2242.90 crore for the development expenditure of this coal mine.
Ghatampur Power Plant is a joint venture of the Government of India and the
State Government.
The
Cabinet has approved the proposal for the Navyug Palika Yojana
mentioned in the budget to make the municipal corporations of the district
headquarters smart. This scheme will be implemented in all 58 district
headquarters, except for the 17 municipal corporation districts in the 75
districts of the state. To develop Gorakhpur city as a solar city after
Ayodhya, the cabinet has approved the installation of a 20 MW floating solar
plant in Chiluataal. Two floating solar plants have already been installed in
Uttar Pradesh. NTPC has installed a 20 MW floating solar plant in Auraiya
district, and THDC has installed an 11 MW floating solar plant in Khurja. The
floating solar plant in Gorakhpur will be installed by Coal India Limited.
