Bhubaneswar, 23 March (H.S.): The Congress on Monday moved the Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, seeking the disqualification of MLA Ramesh Jena over alleged cross voting in the Rajya Sabha elections.

A delegation of senior state Congress leaders met Speaker Padhy and formally submitted a memorandum demanding the cancellation of Jena’s membership in the Assembly. The representation was submitted by Rama Chandra Kadam, Bhakta Das, and C. S. Razen Ekka.

In a parallel development, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader also wrote to the Speaker, reiterating the demand for disqualification of the suspended Congress MLA.

Party sources indicated that similar petitions had previously been submitted seeking action against Sofia Firdous and Dasarathi Gomango. The latest move is part of a broader series of steps taken by the party following recent political developments.
