Nagpur, 02 Mar
(HS): A major fire broke out in Narsala area of Nagpur consuming about 700
synthetic pipes, to be used for laying utter line. The contractor had stored
1,700 synthetic pipes below a water tank. The fire fighters had tough time in
controlling the fire because of poisonous smoke cause by burning of synthetic
pipes. Fortunately the area had no residential houses near the site.
The fire is
suspected to be caused as garbage near the tank caught fire and consumed the
pipes, which had rubber coating.
A local resident
Jitendra Muley noticed smoke emanating from the place and immediately informed
the Fire Brigade. The firefighters controlled
spread of the fire to residential area and then doused it.
No casualty was
reported in the incident. Police are investigating into the incident and suspected
