Gorakhpur, 02
March (HS): A nine-year-old girl died apparently after receiving an injection
at a medical store in the Uruwa neighborhood of this city, authorities said on
Monday. The event occurred on Sunday evening. According to authorities, the
deceased, Divya, was a resident of Masuriya village in the Bansgaon police
station area. He had a minor cough and fever. According to a complaint filed by
the girl's mother, Shashikala, she brought her daughter to S N Medical Store in
Joharabad at 7 p.m. on Sunday for treatment. Shashikala stated that the shop
operator gave Divya an injection shortly after spotting her. Within minutes,
her daughter's condition deteriorated dramatically, leading her to fall and
die. After the youngster died, the store operator, whose name has yet to be
revealed by authorities, shut the doors and left, according to police.
Police arrived on the scene after being notified of
the event and transported the deceased for post-mortem. Jitendra Kumar Singh,
Station House Officer in Bansgaon, stated that the exact cause of death will be
determined after the post-mortem report was received. A case has been filed
based on Shashikala's accusation, and attempts are being made to locate the
accused. Dr J P Tiwari, the in-charge of Uruwa Primary Health Centre, described
the occurrence as severe, stating that medical stores are only authorized to
sell drugs and are not permitted to deliver injections or offer therapy in the
same way that clinics do. A full report has been sent to the chief medical
officer and deputy chief medical officer for future action, he stated.
