Malda, 02 March (H.S.): Three women from Bangladesh have been arrested for illegally entering India. Railway police detained them on Monday from the Guwahati-Bengaluru Express train. During interrogation, the police confirmed that all three women were Bangladeshi citizens and lacked valid documents to enter India. They were then formally arrested.

According to the police and railway sources, these three women, residents of Mymensingh district, entered India through the Assam-Bangladesh border without valid documents with the help of a broker. They then arranged for their journey to Karnataka through the broker. On Monday, they boarded the Guwahati-Bengaluru Express from NJP (New Jalpaiguri).

At Malda station, the Railway Police were conducting routine searches and surveillance in various coaches. The three women were traveling in the general coach. Upon suspicion, the police questioned them, whereupon they admitted to being Bangladeshi citizens and entering India without valid documents. They told that they had entered India through the Sylhet border and were headed to Bengaluru in search of employment.

The Railway Police stated that legal action has been initiated against the accused. They are also investigating which brokers helped them cross the border illegally and enter India.
