Kolkata, 18 Mar (H.S.): Political activities have intensified in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Shankar Malakar, who has been fielded from the Matigara–Naxalbari Assembly constituency, began his election campaign on Wednesday, a day after his name was announced.
Malakar started his campaign by visiting the Atal Tea Garden in Naxalbari, where he interacted with tea garden workers and sought their support. He also took out a rally along with the workers as part of his outreach programme.
Speaking during the campaign, Malakar said that the development schemes of the Mamata Banerjee government have reached every household in the state. He also alleged that the BJP MLA from the constituency had failed to carry out significant development work in the area.
