Guwahati/New Delhi, 18 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to witness a fresh wave of inductions in the state, with several leaders expected to join the party in the next two to three days ahead of the Assembly elections.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while speaking to the media in New Delhi following the joining of Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi into the BJP. He indicated that the political momentum is building in favour of the party, with more leaders likely to switch sides soon.

Sarma stated that several individuals, including Navjyoti Talukdar, who have already resigned from the Congress, are expected to formally join the BJP in Guwahati in the coming days. He further added that the party is in the final stages of preparing its list of candidates, which is likely to receive approval later in the day.

Highlighting the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections, the Chief Minister said that many more leaders like Talukdar are ready to join the BJP, and the party is moving swiftly towards finalizing its electoral strategy.

He also clarified that the ongoing political realignments are not limited to a single event, noting that more leaders from across Assam are expected to join the BJP within the next few days.

When asked about specific individuals, including Congress leader Imran Masood, Sarma refrained from making detailed comments, stating that he would not like to comment on any particular person.------
