
Bhubaneswar, 18 March (H.S.): Odisha earned ₹4,708 crore from the export of 91,930 metric tonnes of seafood during the 2024–25 financial year, Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Gokula Nanda Mallik informed the Assembly.
Responding to a query by MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister stated that the state generated a total revenue of ₹8,664 crore from seafood exports over the past two years. He further noted that Odisha recorded a total fish production of 11.92 lakh metric tonnes in 2024–25.
According to the Minister, seafood exports were primarily routed through Paradip Port, Kolkata Port, Visakhapatnam Port, and Bhubaneswar Airport. The exported items included shrimp, fish, squid, and catfish.
The major export destinations comprised the United States, China, Japan, European nations, and countries in Southeast Asia, reflecting the growing global demand for Odisha’s marine products.
