Prayagraj,
17 March (HS): During the Lok Sabha debate on the Railway Ministry's grant
requests for the fiscal year 2026-27, Prayagraj MP Ujjwal Raman Singh made a
strong case for his area's challenges and development goals. According to MP
representative Vinay Kushwaha, MP Ujjwal Raman Singh presented the problem of
an underpass in Kathouli Meja and Vyohra Karchana as a priority in the House,
as well as the stopping of trains in Manda, Meja, Bhirpur, Karchana, and Jasra
Shankargarh.
He voiced
worry over the sluggish building work at Prayagraj Junction and recommended
renaming Subedarganj station Prayagraj Cantt. MP Ujjwal voiced his
disappointment that Prayagraj was not included in the bullet train line,
claiming that this is stepmotherly treatment of Prayagraj because the Kumbh
Mela is hosted here, attracting crores of visitors to this holy and educational
city. He stated that instead of prioritizing bullet trains or premium trains,
bearing in mind the bulk of the general public, emphasis should be made to the
running of passenger trains that were closed during Covid since railways are
the poor's lifeline. “The Modi government demonstrated the ambition of
transporting people in slippers on airplanes and then removing them off trains,”
he opined prior to signing off.
