New Delhi, 17 March (H.S.): The Delhi High Court mandated the removal of online content falsely linking Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri's daughter, Himayani Puri, to Jeffrey Epstein, with Justice Mini Pushkarna issuing notices on her defamation suit seeking ₹10 crore in damages.
Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani argued the baseless posts—emerging since February 22 across X, Google, Meta, and LinkedIn—severely tarnish her reputation as a finance professional, alleging ties to Epstein's Real Partners LLC funding and a conspiracy with Robert Millard to undermine Lehman Brothers; Himayani vehemently denied all claims as fabricated, attributing them to her father's prominence.
Meta's counsel Arvind Datar opposed worldwide injunctions, citing pending division bench matters and jurisdictional limits, countered by Jethmalani's assertion on India-uploaded content; Google concurred with domestic blocking. Justice Pushkarna prima facie found irreparable harm, ordering Indian takedown while noting U.S. recourse for the American citizen Himayani.
