Kolkata, 14 March (H.S.): Amid reports of political clashes in parts of West Bengal ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Brigade rally, a rare instance of political courtesy was witnessed in Purba Medinipur district where workers of the ruling All India Trinamool Congress helped a bus carrying Bharatiya Janata Party supporters stuck in traffic.

According to local sources, BJP supporters from Moyna were travelling to Kolkata by bus to attend the rally at Brigade Parade Ground when the vehicle got stuck in a traffic jam on the way.

At the same time, a procession of TMC supporters was passing through the same route, raising apprehensions of possible tension between the two rival political groups.

However, TMC workers joined efforts to clear the traffic congestion and helped the bus move forward. Some BJP supporters also got down from the vehicle and assisted in easing the jam.

Witnesses said workers of both parties exchanged greetings after the bus was able to proceed towards Kolkata.

The development comes at a time when political tensions have been running high in the state ahead of the assembly elections, with sporadic allegations of attacks and clashes between rival party supporters.

Moyna had witnessed political unrest during previous elections, but Saturday’s incident was seen as a rare display of political civility between workers of the two parties.
