Jammu, 26 February (H.S.): Educator and social worker Rouble Nagi called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, today.

The Lieutenant Governor congratulated Rouble Nagi on being conferred the prestigious GEMS Global Teacher Prize 2026.

Through the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, Nagi has spearheaded a revolution in inclusive learning and established over 800 learning centres across the country.

The Lieutenant Governor hailed Nagi’s transformative impact on the Indian educational landscape, and securing future of thousands of underprivileged and out-of-school children.

“Rouble Nagi’s contribution to bringing education to the most marginalized is truly admirable. Her pioneering work serves as an inspiration for educators globally,” the Lieutenant Governor said. During the interaction, Rouble Nagi also shared her mission to bridge the digital divide through new school digital centers and bringing AI education to students in the most remote villages.

Meanwhile, Rouble Nagi announced a fresh phase of educational and community development initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir after returning to the Union Territory following her win at the GEMS Education Global Teacher Prize.

Addressing a press conference here, Nagi said she was returning to Jammu and Kashmir with “deep gratitude and humility” after receiving the international recognition, which she dedicated to children, teachers and communities across India.

The award, presented by GEMS Education in association with the Varkey Foundation and supported by UNESCO, was conferred under the patronage of Sheikh Hammad Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “This award does not belong to me alone. It belongs to every child who dared to dream and every teacher who refused to give up,” she said.

Nagi said that after conducting a ground survey and on-site assessment over the past three days, her team has identified border areas in Kupwara district for urgent intervention. The next phase of work will begin in Simari, Amru aind Jabri villages along the Line of Control.

She also announced the establishment of digital educational centres, computer labs and skill development centres in Narbal and Bandgam in Budgam district to bridge the digital divide.

The initiative will introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a guided learning tool in classrooms, aimed at enhancing the teaching of mathematics, languages and creative subjects through visual and interactive methods. Nagi said the objective was not “technology for its own sake” but to ensure exposure, dignity and future readiness for children in remote and border areas.

Through the Rubal Nagi Art Foundation and Misaal India, she said her team has been working in Kashmir for over two decades in education, community development and women’s empowerment.

She said the upcoming projects will focus on four key areas: economic empowerment of women through skill centres, strengthening school and community infrastructure, digital inclusion through AI-enabled learning hubs, and inclusive development targeting marginalised and minority communities.
