23 Feb (HS): A soil mound fell in Kirwani village's forest area on Monday,
killing three women and injuring two others, according to a police official.The
deceased had gone with other ladies to collect clay from Kirwani's forest to
plaster and paint their mud dwellings in preparation for Holi when the event
occurred, according to the officer.
According
to Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma, around half a dozen ladies from the
surrounding villages were scooping clay near a mound when it abruptly collapsed
in, burying them. One of the ladies informed the locals about the occurrence.
Acting on the information, police and administrative authorities arrived at the
scene and, with the assistance of local citizens, extracted three ladies from
the wreckage.
They
were taken to Myorpur Community Health Centre, where physicians pronounced them
dead.The victims were named as Sadikunnisha (30), Anisha Khatoon (20), and Sita
Kunwar (28), he added.
