
Dibrugarh (Assam), 23 February (HS): Police have arrested one accused in connection with the recent jewellery robbery in Moran under Dibrugarh district, where armed miscreants attacked a trader and decamped with ornaments worth around ₹8 lakh.
According to police, the incident took place on the night of February 20 when Subhashish Karmakar, owner of Kamakhya Jewellers, was returning home after closing his shop along with an employee. On the way, a group of robbers allegedly attacked them and looted jewellery worth approximately Rs 8 lakh that they were carrying from the shop. Both the shop owner and his employee sustained injuries in the assault.
Based on an FIR lodged by the victim, police launched an investigation and arrested one of the accused, identified as Raju Tati. The motorcycle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
Police are currently interrogating the arrested accused and have intensified efforts to trace and apprehend other persons involved in the robbery.--------
