Mumbai, 05 January (H.S.): With the Thane Municipal Corporation general elections for 2025–26 scheduled to be held on January 15, 2026, voter awareness activities are being intensified across Thane city to ensure wider participation in the democratic process.

As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, awareness rallies, morning processions, street plays and voter pledge campaigns are being organised under various ward committees. These initiatives are drawing a positive response from citizens, including students, teachers, parents, youth and senior citizens.

The awareness drive is being carried out by the Thane Municipal Corporation with the objective of increasing voter turnout and encouraging citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote. The campaign is being conducted under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Election Officer Saurabh Rao, with support from SVEEP Nodal Officer Dr. Mitali Sancheti. Awareness programmes are being held daily in different parts of the city.

On Sunday morning (January 5, 2026), a voter awareness roundtable was organised at a high school and junior college operated by Saraswati Education Society in the Panchpakhadi ward committee area, focusing on the importance of voting.

Later in the day, a rally was taken out at Nirmaladevi Dighe Park in the Kachhari Lake area, urging residents to exercise their franchise in the January 15 civic polls. The initiative created a positive atmosphere in the locality and strengthened awareness about active participation in the democratic process.

A large number of morning walkers, youth and senior citizens participated in the rally. The area resonated with slogans such as “Vote Without Fail” and “My Vote, My Right,” highlighting the significance of voting and civic responsibility.
