07 Jan (HS): Two criminals who broke into a temple donation box and stole money
were arrested by Surajpur police during a shootout on Wednesday morning. They
were shot in the leg. Police recovered illegal weapons, the motorcycle used in
the crime, Rs. 20,700 in cash, a mobile phone, and a lock-picking tool.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (II) Santosh Kumar said that on Wednesday, the
Surajpur police station was checking near a beer company by placing a barrier,
when two people were seen coming from the front on a motorcycle. When the
police signaled them to stop, instead of stopping, they turned the bike and
started running away. The police chased them and surrounded them. Seeing
themselves surrounded by the police, the criminals opened fire on the police
party with the intention to kill them. In retaliation, the police opened fire,
in which Sirajuddin alias Guddu and Mayank Sharma were injured. Both were shot
in the leg.
The
injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The arrested accused
Sirajuddin has 17 cases registered against him in various police stations and 6
cases against Mayank. Additional
Deputy Commissioner of Police said that Rs 20,700 was recovered from these
miscreants from the amount stolen by breaking the donation box of a temple
located in Nawada village. Cash and other items stolen from a home in Tilpata
village included a mobile phone, Rs 2,165 in cash, a bag, an Aadhaar card, and
lock-picking tools. Police also recovered a motorcycle without a number plate
from the criminals. These criminals have confessed to committing dozens of
thefts and robberies in the NCR.
