
Kolkata, 07 January (H.S.): Ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a major organisational step by announcing its new state committee in West Bengal. The announcement, made on Wednesday, is being seen as a crucial move in shaping the party’s electoral strategy. The BJP leadership believes that a strengthened organisational structure will help unify party workers and improve performance in the upcoming polls.
According to the official notification issued by the party, senior leader Samik Bhattacharya will continue as the president of the West Bengal BJP. He will be assisted by a team of state vice-presidents, including Sanjay Singh, Raju Banerjee, Debasree Chaudhuri, Agnimitra Paul, Dipak Barman, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, Manoj Tiggah, Nishith Pramanik, Tapas Roy, Amitava Roy, Tanuja Chakraborty and Prabal Raha.
To further strengthen organisational functioning, Jyotirmay Singh Mahato, Locket Chatterjee, Saumitra Khan, Bapi Goswami and Shashi Agnihotri have been appointed as state general secretaries. In addition, several leaders have been inducted as state secretaries to sharpen organisational and political activities at the grassroots level. These include Shankar Ghosh, Dipanjan Guha, Sonali Murmu, Manoj Pandey, Amlan Bhattacharyya, Mahadev Sarkar, Sakharav Sarkar, Sintu Senapati, Sarbari Mukherjee, Mohan Sharma, Biva Majumdar and Sanjay Verma.
Ashish Bapat has been appointed as the state treasurer to oversee the party’s financial and administrative affairs, while Praveen Agarwal and Vidyasagar have been named joint treasurers. For office-related responsibilities, Pranay Roy has been made office secretary and Pratyush Mandal has been appointed as joint office secretary.
According to BJP sources, the new state committee reflects a careful balance between experienced leaders and younger faces. Individuals with a background in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have also been accommodated. The party’s primary focus will be on strengthening the organisation down to the booth level, infusing fresh energy among workers and intensifying public outreach ahead of the elections. The new committee is expected to take several key decisions related to election preparedness in the coming days.
