Bomb Threat at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, Intensive Search Underway


Mumbai, 05 January (H.S.): Panic briefly prevailed on Monday morning after Tata Memorial (Cancer) Hospital, located in Parel area of Mumbai, received a bomb threat via email, prompting immediate action by security agencies.

As soon as information about the threatening email was received, Mumbai Police along with the bomb disposal squad rushed to the hospital premises and launched a thorough search operation. However, no explosive material or any suspicious object has been found so far.

According to police officials, the hospital administration informed the police immediately after receiving the email threatening that a bomb had been planted inside the hospital. Following this, security teams reached the spot without delay and began an intensive search, which was still underway at the time of filing this report.

The Mumbai Police are also conducting an investigation to trace the sender of the threat email. The cyber police team has been engaged to examine the source and intent behind the message.

It is noteworthy that Tata Memorial Hospital is among the country’s oldest and most prominent cancer treatment centres, catering to patients from across India. Police are probing the motive behind sending the threat email to such a sensitive medical institution.
