Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 05 January (H.S.): Ahead of the municipal corporation elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday expelled 22 of its workers for alleged anti-party activities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
The BJP is contesting 93 seats in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation. Party sources said discontent had surfaced among certain workers following the announcement of candidates for the civic polls.
In a letter shared with the media, BJP district unit president Kishor Shitole stated that a party meeting was held to review the situation arising from internal dissent ahead of the elections.
Following the meeting, the party leadership decided to suspend the membership of 22 workers for acting against party discipline, he said, adding that the action was taken to maintain organisational unity during the election period.
