05 Jan (HS): In the Lambhua police station area of Sultanpur district in
Uttar Pradesh, a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh was killed in
an encounter. He was admitted to the hospital in an injured state, where
doctors declared him dead. Senior Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh
said on Monday that the police received information about the movement of
criminal Talib alias Azam Khan (26), son of Ghaffar Khan, a resident of
Gauriya, Fardhan police station, Kheri district, under the Lambhua police
station area. Sultanpur and Lakhimpur Kheri police jointly cordoned off the
area near Diyara bridge last night. The accused opened fire on the police team.
In
self-defense, the police also opened fire, in which the accused was injured.
The injured criminal was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he was
declared dead during treatment. This criminal was a resident of the Fardhan
police station in Lakhimpur Kheri district and currently had a reward of Rs.1
lakh announced on his head. He has nearly a dozen criminal cases registered
against him.
