Kolkata, 05 January (H.S.): Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. He claimed to have written to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, calling the allegations being made by Mamata Banerjee regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) false and fabricated.
In his post, Suvendu Adhikari stated that the so-called concerns being expressed by Mamata Banerjee regarding the SIR process are entirely imaginary. According to him, this exercise by the Election Commission is actually exposing the alleged irregularities committed by the Trinamool Congress over the years.
He alleged that the SIR is revealing the identities of fake voters, voters registered under the names of deceased individuals, and illegal immigrants, who were allegedly protected by the Trinamool Congress to rig elections. Suvendu Adhikari also claimed that this is why Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is panicking and demanding a halt to the SIR process.
At the end of his post, Suvendu Adhikari said that the SIR process will prove to be the death knell for Mamata Banerjee's political ambitions in the 2026 assembly elections.
As of the time of writing, there had been no official response from the Trinamool Congress to Suvendu Adhikari's post.
