Kolkata, 05 January (H.S.): Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, posted on Facebook on Monday, alleging vandalism of Saraswati idols in the Mahishadal area of East district. He claimed that Saraswati Puja idols, prepared by idol makers in Kathalpatti, Gadkamalpur area of Mahishadal, were damaged on Sunday night.

In his post, Suvendu Adhikari stated that Saraswati Puja is fast approaching, and if idols are repeatedly damaged in this manner, it will cause significant financial losses to the idol makers. He also alleged that similar incidents are continuously occurring in various parts of the state.

Suvendu Adhikari questioned the police and administration, stating that no exemplary punishment has been given to those involved in such incidents, which is why these incidents are increasing. He termed it a direct attack on the faith of Hindus and criticized the state government's policies.

The Leader of the Opposition demanded that the administration identify those involved in the incident and take immediate and strict action. He said that such repeated attacks on the faith of Hindus will not be tolerated.

There has been no official response from the administration or the police regarding this matter till the time of filing this report.
