Bhubaneswar, 05 January (H.S.): Senior leaders of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) from Jajpur district held a meeting at the official residence of MLA Pramila Mallik in Bhubaneswar on Monday, fuelling political discussions in the wake of recent remarks that had led to speculation about internal differences within the party.
The meeting was attended by several senior BJD leaders, including Pranab Prakash Das, MLA Biswa Ranjan Mallick, and former MP Sarmistha Sethi. Former MLA Pranab Balabantaray, MLA Sujata Sahu, and BJD leader from Barachana, Rajnarayan Mohapatra, were also present, sources said.
According to party sources, the meeting focused on strengthening the organisational structure of the BJD in Jajpur district and reviewing local issues. Leaders emphasised that such meetings are a routine part of internal coordination and should not be construed as a sign of discord within the party.
Responding to speculation, MLA Pramila Mallik said discussions were held on district- and party-related matters, noting that similar meetings have taken place in the past as well. Dismissing reports of any rift, she asserted that there is no division within the party and that leaders regularly meet to deliberate on organisational and development-related issues.
