Guwahati, 5 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma extended warm greetings to the Karbi community on the auspicious occasion of Rongker Karkli, the major traditional religious festival of the Karbi people observed during the winter season.

In his social media message, the Chief Minister said that Rongker Karkli is a festival of faith, unity and prosperity, celebrated with the objective of seeking agricultural abundance, wellbeing of village communities and the blessings of local deities, while warding off evil influences.

Dr. Sarma conveyed his heartfelt wishes for peace, harmony and happiness, and prayed for the good health and overall welfare of all on this sacred occasion, expressing hope that the festival would strengthen social unity and collective wellbeing.
