Guwahati, 4 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday launched the distribution of ₹10,000 entrepreneurship fund cheques to 24,767 women of Dimoria Assembly constituency in Kamrup (Metro) district under the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Mission.

Of the beneficiaries, 20,589 are from rural areas and 4,178 from urban areas. The Chief Minister said the scheme aims to make women financially self-reliant and added that the ₹10,000 assistance is the first instalment, with further support to be extended to deserving beneficiaries to help them become “Lakhpati Baideu”.

Dr Sarma said the state government has fulfilled its promises by translating welfare schemes into action and announced continued support for women’s empowerment through the Women Entrepreneurship Mission and Orunodoi scheme.--------
