Ramadoss holds meet to decide alliance for 2026 elections

Chennai, 19 January (H.S.) : Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S Ramadoss convened an urgent high-level meeting with his party supporters at his Thailapuram residence on Sunday to deliberate on electoral alliances for the upcoming assembly elections.

The meeting was attended by senior leaders, including PMK MLA G K Mani and the founder’s daughter Srikanthi, along with a significant number of party workers. The discussions come at a time of heightened political activity in the state as various parties rush to finalize their partnerships.

The meeting follows the recent move by PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss, who reportedly joined the AIADMK alliance about ten days ago, creating a sense of urgency for the party founder to formalize his final stance.

According to statements made by party officials, S Ramadoss has been facing considerable pressure from both within the party and from external political entities to conclude the decision making process. PMK MLA G K Mani addressed reporters after the session, noting that several parties, including newly launched political outfits, have been engaged in discussions with their faction.

He clarified that while the supporters have expressed their diverse opinions to the party founder, the final decision remains in the hands of S Ramadoss. The urgency is further fueled by the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tamil Nadu on January 23, where NDA allies are expected to share the stage.

Consequently, the PMK leadership aims to finalize its alliance strategy before this key event to ensure a clear political direction.
