Chennai, 19 January (H.S.) : Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Central Government, accusing it of deliberately sidelining Tamil Nadu in major infrastructure and development projects.

In a detailed post on X, the Member of Parliament questioned why the state, which contributes significantly to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), exports, and the MSME sector, is being denied its rightful share of progress.

Tagore specifically highlighted the lack of approvals and support for the Madurai Metro, Coimbatore Metro, and the proposed Hosur Airport project. He argued that these cities are major growth hubs and the backbone of industry and logistics in South India, and denying these projects effectively denies opportunities to millions of people.

The Congress leader further questioned the spirit of federalism maintained by the current administration, asking if the concept is only reserved for speeches rather than actual implementation. According to authority versions from the Congress, the state is not asking for special favours but for its fair portion of central schemes and infrastructure investments.

Tagore termed the situation as discriminatory and warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi that such continuous neglect would have serious political consequences.

He stated that the people of the state are closely monitoring these developments and will express their disapproval in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections in 2026.

The MP emphasized that bias in development is unacceptable in a democratic setup and called for an immediate end to this perceived political discrimination.
