
Chennai, 19 January (H.S.) : CEPT University celebrated a significant academic milestone on Monday as it held its 20th Annual Convocation, conferring degrees on a total of 589 students across various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. The graduating cohort included 392 postgraduates, 196 undergraduates, and one recipient of a Doctor of Philosophy.
During the ceremony, the university also formally announced its strategic entry into management education with the launch of its new flagship programme, an MBA in Real Estate, under the Faculty of Management. The event was graced by eminent design educator Prof. Ashoke Chatterjee, former Executive Director of the National Institute of Design, who served as the Chief Guest and delivered the convocation address.
Welcoming the attendees, Prof. Barjor Mehta, President of CEPT University, highlighted that the new MBA in Real Estate is designed to meet the growing professional demand in the country's expanding formal real estate sector. He noted that CEPT is uniquely positioned to offer high-quality education in this field by leveraging its established strengths in architecture, urban planning, and construction management.
Additionally, the university conferred Honorary Doctorates upon Prof. Rasik J Shah and Prof. Vidyadhar K Phatak for their exceptional contributions to structural engineering and urban development, respectively. Chairman Sanjay Lalbhai urged the graduates to be mindful of climate urgency and the role of artificial intelligence in their future professions.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of University Awards of Proficiency to 45 students who demonstrated outstanding academic excellence during their tenure at the institution.
