New Delhi, 14 January (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party expressed strong objection to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent statements during his Tamil Nadu visit on Wednesday. BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of repeatedly issuing remarks that divide society and spread confusion regarding regional identities. They charged that Rahul Gandhi is engaging in negative politics under the guise of Tamil pride.
BJP Spokesperson's Rebuttal
BJP national spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan, addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Wednesday, stated, Rahul Gandhi was on a political tour of Tamil Nadu. During this visit, he made an utterly shameful and painful statement that bears no relation to reality, logic, or facts. There, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi suppresses the Tamil voice.
Guru Prakash asserted that history bears witness: in the past 11 years, Prime Minister Modi has demonstrated unprecedented sensitivity toward the Tamil language and Tamil culture. For the first time in our history, Tamil language, Tamil honor, and Tamil identity have been robustly represented not only within India's borders but also on every global platform with respect and sensitivity under Modi's leadership.
Accusations of Divisive Tactics
He remarked that Rahul Gandhi incites caste frenzy in Bihar, while in Tamil Nadu, he pursues negative politics in the name of Tamil identity. The Congress leader perpetually stages his political spectacle—sometimes invoking caste, sometimes region, sometimes identity—reaching the pinnacle of insensitivity.
Guru Prakash highlighted examples such as Kashi, Parliament, Fiji, Houston University, and G20 summits, which exemplify India's unparalleled commitment to Tamil civilizational heritage. The BJP spokesperson noted that Rahul Gandhi's track record remains exceedingly weak.
During his Bihar visit, he attempted to divide people along caste lines; in Tamil Nadu, he behaved in a manner that weakens Tamil identity. His actions present a textbook-like case study of separatism in Indian politics. He urged Rahul Gandhi to refrain from such statements.
Global Tamil Promotion Examples
Guru Prakash cited that, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, Tamil language programs have been initiated in countries like Fiji—marking the first such effort in Fiji in the past 80 years.
