09 Aug (HS): On Saturday, a woman jumped into a canal with her three children
in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. The police, who reached the spot after
receiving the information, recovered the bodies of all four after several hours
of search operation. Naraini Kotwali in-charge Ram Mohan Rai said that the
deceased have been identified as Akhilesh's wife Bina (28), a resident of
Risaura village, her two sons and a daughter. Initial investigation revealed
that Akhilesh was addicted to alcohol, due to which he often quarreled with his
wife.
On Friday night also, there was an argument between the two and on
Saturday morning, an angry Bina left the house with the children. When the
villagers saw the woman's bangles, kada, children's clothes and slippers lying
on the banks of the Ken canal, they immediately informed the police. Meanwhile,
while searching for his wife, husband Akhilesh reached near the canal and
started screaming after seeing the clothes and belongings. He told that all
these belongings belonged to his wife and children. On receiving information
about the incident, Kotwal Ram Mohan Rai conducted a search operation in the
canal with the help of divers.
After several hours of effort, the bodies of
Beena and her three children were recovered and sent for postmortem. The police
station in-charge said that the bodies of the woman and her children have been
recovered from the canal. The police is investigating the case.
