Bhubaneswar, 9 August (H.S.) Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid tribute to the valiant freedom fighters on the anniversaries of the 1942 August Kranti (Quit India Movement) and the 1925 Kakori Conspiracy. He remembered these historic milestones in India’s freedom struggle through two separate social media posts.
Recalling the August Kranti, Pradhan wrote that the 1942 movement was a defining moment in the struggle for independence, when the entire nation rose in unison against British rule. From the August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, Mahatma Gandhi gave the call of “Do or Die,” which infused the freedom movement with new direction and unprecedented momentum. “It was not just a movement, but a symbol of the unwavering faith and indomitable courage within every Indian for freedom. On this anniversary, I bow in reverence to all the brave freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for the country’s independence,” he stated.
In another post, Pradhan commemorated the anniversary of the Kakori Conspiracy of 9 August 1925, calling it a golden chapter in the history of India’s independence movement. He recalled how Ram Prasad Bismil, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Ashfaqulla Khan, and their associates stopped a British government train near Kakori, Lucknow, to protest injustice and exploitation. “The core spirit behind this act was to use the wealth looted from the people by the British for revolutionary activities and in the service of the nation. The tales of valour of these heroes of Bharat Mata will forever remain etched in our hearts,” he said.
