Bhubaneswar, 9 August (H.S.): The August Revolution Day marked a pivotal moment in India’s freedom struggle, providing it with a new direction. It was not merely a movement but a symbol of unwavering faith in independence and indomitable courage among the people. This was stated by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while participating in the ‘Triranga Yatra’ held in Brahmapur on Saturday.

The procession, organized to commemorate August Revolution Day, saw Minister Pradhan joining the public and activists in large numbers. At Brahmapur Town Hall, he paid tribute to the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. During the event, he recalled the significant role and contributions of the freedom fighters and paid homage to their sacrifices.

The Minister emphasized that on this very day in 1942, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, the Quit India Movement was launched to drive the British out of India. The August Revolution was a decisive moment when the entire nation united to raise its voice against British rule. From Mumbai’s August Revolution ground, Mahatma Gandhi issued the famous ‘Do or Die’ call, which gave fresh momentum and direction to the freedom struggle.

Pradhan further stated that today is a day to rekindle patriotism. The country will soon celebrate its 79th Independence Day. In the current times, making India self-reliant and establishing its global identity should be the collective goal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a ‘Developed Odisha’ and a ‘Developed India’ to realize this vision.

He also stressed the importance of promoting indigenous products to strengthen the economy and safeguard the interests of the people. Minister Pradhan paid heartfelt tribute to the great freedom fighters whose courage, sacrifice, and determination paved the way for India’s independence.
