Chennai, 9 August (H.S.): A remarkable 910 students from government schools in Tamil Nadu have secured seats in premium institutions across India and abroad this year. This achievement marks a significant increase from previous years, with 75 students joining top institutions in 2021-22, 274 in 2022-23, and 628 in 2023-24.

The students are set to join esteemed institutions such as the Indian Maritime University, Indian Culinary Institute, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Madras School of Economics, National Institute of Technology, and Indian Institute of Technology, among others. Some students have even secured seats in international institutions, including Albukhary International University in Malaysia and universities in Taiwan.

Chief Minister MK Stalin praised the students, saying, From just 75, the number of students pursuing higher education has grown over the years. This year alone, the numbers show 910 students joining premium institutions, and the numbers are likely to increase as admissions are ongoing. The state government has announced financial support for these students, including covering travel expenses for those going abroad and funding education expenses for those joining premier Indian institutions.

Notable students include P Vetri Tamil, who will join the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad, and D Sivaramakrishnan, who will join Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) in Tiruchy. The government's initiative has led to a significant increase in student enrolments, and the Chief Minister has appealed to the heads of top educational institutions to provide all necessary support to government school students.
