Baksa (Assam), 09 August (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma aims to hold public meetings in all 40 council areas ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. As part of the campaign, he will address a public meeting in Baksa on Sunday under the BJP’s Vijay Sankalp rally.
Ahead of the event, Minister Ranjit Kumar Das inspected the venue and shared his views on the BTC polls. He asserted there is no conflict between BJP and local allies UPPL and BPF, claiming that BJP is poised to win 18 council seats, while the remaining 22 will be shared between UPPL and BPF.
Das said the people of BTC see BJP as the better choice and will decide the runner-up. Taking a jibe at Congress, he likened the party to “seasonal frogs” that appear only during elections. He also commented on the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in the state and on ABMSU’s decision to contest the BTC elections.
