Kolkata, 9 August (H.S.): Due to Nabanna Abhiyan, traffic on Howrah Bridge remained completely closed since Saturday morning. Heavy guardrails and barricades were installed on the way to the bridge. However, after the campaign ended, this security circle started being removed gradually. Guardrails and barricades were removed, yellow taxis started moving and the wheels of buses are also ready to move. It is expected that the situation will be completely normal by night.

In fact, on the completion of one year of the incident of rape and murder of a female doctor of RG Kar Medical College, various organizations had called for Nabanna Abhiyan on Saturday. Many BJP MLAs and leaders including Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Suvendu Adhikari participated in this programme.

As per the pre-announcement, the victim's parents also joined the protest march.

However, the police controlled the traffic at many places throughout the day, including Howrah Bridge. For some time in the morning, the movement of buses and taxis was completely stopped, due to which common people had to face a lot of trouble.

Thousands of people cross Howrah Bridge to and from Kolkata every day. Due to the traffic being closed, many people were forced to cross the bridge on foot. However, the situation started becoming normal slowly from the afternoon onwards and it is expected that the situation will be completely back on track by

eveining.
