Nagpur, 09 Aug (HS): Nationalist Congress Party Founder Sharad Pawar

made a surprise revelation that two individuals had approached him with an

offer to ensure victory over 160 seats for his party.

Addressing media persons in Nagpur, Sharad Pawar said

that two persons had come to meet him in Delhi. The guaranteed victory over 160

seats out of a total of 288 in the Maharashtra Assembly. He said he was shocked to

hear the offer. Pawar said he ignored the offer, as many such claims are

made during elections. He clarified that he never had doubts about the Election

Commission’s functioning.

Pawar said that the two were taken to Congress

leader Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi and I decided to ignore such offers.

Seats of Uddhav Thackeray during Rahul Gandhi’s

press conference are being discussed. “I, too, was present there”, Pawar said.

The back seat is good to understand the presentation on screen, he added. Rahul

Gandhi made serious allegations against the functioning of the Election

Commission. An in-depth enquiry into the charges should be conducted, Pawar

said. The Election Commission should reply to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, and

not by the BJP, he added.
