Jammu, 9 August (H.S.): In view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, JKS Range, Shiv Kumar, conducted a comprehensive security review of Kathua district today.
As part of the inspection, the DIG visited several key locations, including the Kathua Police Station, District Sports Stadium—designated as the main venue for the August 15 function—and the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua. During his visit, Shiv Kumar chaired a security review meeting with senior police officers to assess preparedness and streamline coordination for the national event.
Emphasizing the importance of vigilance during the Independence Day period, the DIG issued specific instructions to all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs), and In-charges of police posts (IC PPs). He directed them to intensify surveillance and take strict action against anti-national and anti-social elements.
The DIG also called upon the general public to remain alert and cooperate with the police by promptly sharing any information about suspicious individuals, activities, or movements in their areas. He stressed that community involvement plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order and ensuring a peaceful celebration.
Shiv Kumar’s visit comes as part of a series of security drills and preparedness initiatives being undertaken by law enforcement agencies across J&K in anticipation of the 78th Independence Day celebrations. The district police have been instructed to remain on high alert and ensure all necessary security arrangements are in place at sensitive locations.
