Howrah, 6 August (H.S.) An infant baby girl was recovered alive from a dustbin under Nivedita Setu in Panchanantala area of Bally in Howrah district on Wednesday morning.

As per information, on Wednesday morning local people and passersby suddenly heard the sound of a baby crying. When people were searching in the direction of the sound, a Toto driver reached there and saw that a newborn baby girl had been thrown in the dustbin. The girl was immediately taken out and admitted to a private hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

On information, the police of Bally police station went to the hospital and took stock of the situation. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Prima facie, it is suspected that the girl was left in the dustbin shortly after birth. Local people say that this incident, highlighting the discrimination against daughters in the society, has once again shamed humanity.

For more information, the police is examining the CCTV footage of the surrounding areas. At present, the condition of the baby girl is stable.
