Mumbai, 06 Aug (HS): “The dream of a developed Bharat will be
fulfilled with the development of the People with Disabilities (Divyangjan).
The nation is moving towards its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047,”
said Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan.
Radhakrishnan was
speaking during a prize distribution function for the national swimming
championship for the disabled 2025, at Mumbai University on Wednesday. He said
a rehabilitation and development centre and a sports arena for the mentally
challenged should be developed at all the districts in Maharashtra. More than
40 competitions were organised in the national competition, which is an
indication of the dedication, service, and concentration of the organisers and
the participants. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government made several
facilities available for the disabled, including increasing their categories
based on type of disabilities, Radhakrishnan said. The reservation for the
disabled was also increased in education and other government services. A
separate department for their welfare was also formed, he added.
