Bhubaneswar, 6 August (H.S.):Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations linked to Debasis Panda, Principal Scientific Officer of the State Drugs Testing Laboratory in Sambalpur, following allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, the anti-corruption agency launched operations at seven locations across Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, and Berhampur. The search teams comprised four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), ten Inspectors, four Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other supporting personnel.

In Bhubaneswar, the properties under scrutiny include Flat No.15, Block-5, and Flat No.11-D, Block-2 at Metro City, Beherasahi, Nayapalli, Space No. OU-634 at Esplanade, and Flat No.105, Block-D at Prestige Apartment, Balabhadrapur. In Sambalpur, officials raided a rented duplex at DX-29 in Greater Sambalpur, Bareipalli, and Panda’s office chamber at the State Drugs Testing Laboratory in Kainsir. Additionally, his paternal house located at Nabhi Colony on Church Road in Berhampur was also searched.

According to Vigilance officials, the raids are part of an ongoing investigation into Panda’s alleged accumulation of wealth that appears to be beyond his legal income. The searches were still underway at the time of reporting, and further details regarding the seizure of documents, valuables, or other assets are awaited.
