Kamrup (Assam), 06 August (HS): A shocking murder attempt was thwarted by vigilant locals late last night on the E&D embankment at Mahavirpathar, Jorashimuli in South Kamrup district.

According to reports, a group of unidentified miscreants tied up a young man, stuffed him into sacks, and abandoned him with the intention of killing him. The victim has been identified as Ali Akbar, son of Tayyab Ali, a resident of Kamalapur.

Hearing unusual sounds in the darkness, nearby villagers rushed to the spot, prompting the miscreants to flee. The victim was found in a traumatized condition and was initially taken to the Garaimari Community Health Centre. However, he was later referred to Guwahati Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment due to his critical state.

Police have launched an investigation into the case and stated that further details will emerge once the victim regains consciousness.
