06 Aug (HS): Swami Prasad Maurya was allegedly smacked by a Karni Sena worker
while on his way to Fatehpur, generating a disturbance and highlighting Uttar
Pradesh's law and order concerns. Maurya condemned the event as evidence of the
ruling party's support for the Karni Sena, accusing them of subverting state
law and order. He said that the Lok
Morcha will run in the 2027 elections under the slogan 'BJP Hatao, UP Bachao'.
Maurya
launched a political protest after the incident, accusing the state government
of protecting rogue elements. Swami
Prasad Maurya, a former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister, was reportedly smacked
by a Karni Sena activist on his way to Fatehpur on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Saras Crossing at a
welcome event hosted by local supporters.
The suspects allegedly joined the mob to garland Maurya. Maurya's supporters reacted quickly,
apprehending and punishing the perpetrator.
Police detained two people for additional interrogation.
