Mumbai, 05 Aug (HS):
Republican Party of India (A) President and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale
demanded at least 20 to 25 seats for his party in the Mumbai Municipal
Corporation elections. The local body elections are due and will be held in the
next few months.
Athawale was
addressing a meeting of the Maharashtra Unit leaders of RPI (A) in Mumbai. The
responsibility of allotting the seats is vested with the BJP-led Mahayuti (Mega
Alliance). Athawale also demanded five seats in the Zilla Parishad and one in the Panchayat Samiti elections for his party. RPI(A) is a partner in the ruling Mega
Alliance in the state. Athawale said that as a partner in the alliance, one
minister, one MLC as a member of a Corporation, Planning Committee, and as SEO
should be reserved for RPI(A). He said that he will discuss the seat-sharing
formula with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
