05 Aug (HS): Amidst the ongoing trade war around the world, Uttar Pradesh will

now formulate a strategy to increase its exports to countries other than the

US. It will especially increase exports to countries like Spain, Italy, Brazil,

Malaysia. Not only this, new areas have also been identified for the export of

traditional products.

Apart from this, there will be a phase-wise increase of 50

percent in UP's exports through special assistance, incentives and grants in

the next five years. For the first time, a provision will be made to give 40

percent grant of project cost to exporting units in the new Export Promotion

Policy-2030 Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, in view of the immense

possibilities of export in the service sector, it has also been included in the

draft of the proposed policy. The major sectors in this are medical-tourism,

hospitality, transport, logistics services and higher education. UP is already

active in software export.

Secretary

of MSME and Industrial Development Department Pranjal Yadav says, UP is at

number five in the total exports of the country. Many big steps are being taken

to increase its share in the country beyond five percent. Diversification is

also to be done in the export sector. There is still a lot of potential in the

MSME sector. Assocham co-president and public policy strategist Hasan Yakub

suggests that the UP government should take measures like interest subsidy,

market expansion grant and logistics assistance to exporters so that exporters

can reach new international markets. Uttar Pradesh, with its rich tradition and

industrial capacity, can turn this challenge into a trade transformation.

Training

to 10000 exporters: Federation of Indian Export Organizations, while submitting

a report on exports to the UP government, has suggested that by 2027, 10000

exporters should be trained regarding the export process and international

dimensions. In the first phase, this training should be given in Moradabad,

Varanasi, Kanpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Saharanpur. They have offered to

cooperate in this.
