Hooghly, 5 August (H.S.): The name of the TMC councillor from Dankuni Municipality appears in two places in the voter list. On Monday, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, shared the name and photo of TMC councillor Kabirul Alam on social media, writing, In West Bengal's voter list, there is a flood of fake voters, dead voters, Bangladeshi voters, and Rohingya voters. Suvendu said that once SIR starts, one crore voter names will be removed from Bengal’s voter list.

Notably, Kabirul Alam is the TMC councilor of Ward No. 19 in Dankuni Municipality and also the president of the TMC Youth Congress of Dankuni town. His name appears in two booths—one in Ward No. 20 and the other in Ward No. 19. Booth numbers are 291 and 297 respectively.

Responding to the issue, Kabirul Alam said his ancestral home is in Ward No. 20, Dankuni. He also has another house in Ward No. 19. He currently lives in a residence opposite Dankuni station, which is under Ward No. 15.

Kabirul Alam’s wife, Jahedunnesa, was the councillor of Ward No. 19 from 2015 to 2022. In 2022, Kabirul Alam won from Ward No. 19 and became a councillor.

He said, In the 194 Chanditala Assembly constituency, my father and grandfather still live in Ward No. 20 of Dankuni. The electric meter there is in my name. Later, I purchased land in Mrigala of Ward No. 19, and I am the current councillor there. I am also the president of the TMC Youth Congress of Dankuni town.

He added, I am not dead, nor am I Bangladeshi or Rohingya. I am purely Indian and Bengali. However, he said, Aadhaar cards and voter cards are linked, so when I registered in Ward No. 19, my name should have been removed from Ward No. 20. I don’t know why it wasn’t removed, but I will apply to get my name removed t
