Hooghly, 5 August (H.S.) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Ramakrishna Math and Mission at Kamarpukur while inspecting the flood situation in Hooghly on Tuesday. She inaugurated a guest house and parking lot there and announced a grant of ₹10 crore. Standing at the birthplace of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, she recalled his teachings.

Mamata said, “There is no need to go anywhere else to understand Hinduism. This is the workplace of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Maa Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda here in Kamarpukur. One can realize it by coming here. They have delivered the message of universal harmony among all religions.” Proudly, she added, “Remember, the language they spoke was Bengali.”

Afterward, she visited the flood-affected area of Khanakul and personally served khichdi to people sheltering in a relief camp near Kamarpukur. The victims shared their problems with her, which she listened to attentively and assured swift solutions.

Recalling the messages of Ramakrishna, Sarada, and Vivekananda, Mamata said, “Swami Vivekananda said, ‘Unity is our strength and division is the cause of downfall.’ We do not believe in division. We live and fight together.” She emphasized the importance of their teachings in shaping human character. Maa Sarada taught tolerance and forgiveness. Mamata also mentioned their books like ‘Kathamrita’ and ‘Taruner Swapna.’

Additionally, she strongly condemned the ongoing violence against the Bengali language and Bengalis across the country and reminded everyone that the language in which these great sages spoke will never tolerate disrespect in

Bengal.
