Sivasagar, 30 August (HS): After remaining in hiding for 22 days, notorious oil thief Jelil Ali has been arrested by Joysagar police. He was apprehended late last night while hiding in Moran Tingrai, police official confirmed on Saturday.

According to reports, Jelil Ali had been absconding since August 9. Meanwhile, his brother and accomplice, Abul Ali, is still on the run.

It may be recalled that on August 9, a major explosion occurred at an illegal oil depot in Baghidol Singhduar, Sivasagar, leaving two people seriously injured. Following the incident, the names of the two oil thieves, Jelil and Abul, came to light.

For a long time, the duo had been running a flourishing illegal oil trade by setting up unauthorized depots in Singhduar. Police confirmed that operations are underway to nab the absconding Abul Ali..--------
