Bongaigaon (Assam), 30 August (HS): A man was brutally murdered while sleeping at his residence in Tilapara near Srijangaon under Abhayapuri in Bongaigaon district, police official confirmed on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Hasanur Rahman, a mason by profession. According to police, unidentified miscreants attacked him with a sharp weapon during the night, leading to his death on the spot.

Senior police officials reached the site this morning and initiated an investigation. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination.
