Force (RPF) officials confiscated Rs 25 lakh cash from a passenger at
Suraimanpur train station after he could not provide an acceptable explanation
for why he was carrying such a huge sum of money. Aboard Friday evening, a guy
was aboard the Utsarg Express bound for Chhapra in Bihar when the event
occurred.
RPF Inspector B K Singh recognized the passenger as Akshay Kumar Soni, who
lives in Gohiya Chhapra hamlet near the Bairia police station.
The traveler was unable to provide a good explanation for the enormous quantity
of money he was carrying; therefore the funds were taken, according to
officials. The seizure was reported to the Income Tax Department, and Soni
received a notification under the relevant sections of the Income Tax Act. This
is the third significant cash seizure from a train passenger on the
Ballia-Chhapra line.
On August 4, the Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended Mohammad Mustafa,
a passenger on the Swatantrata Senani Express, at Ballia railway station and recovered Rs 53.96 lakh. On July
22, Rs 1.80 crore was taken from a Sabarmati-Darbhanga Express passenger.
