Ballia,

30 Aug (HS): Railway Protection

Force (RPF) officials confiscated Rs 25 lakh cash from a passenger at

Suraimanpur train station after he could not provide an acceptable explanation

for why he was carrying such a huge sum of money. Aboard Friday evening, a guy

was aboard the Utsarg Express bound for Chhapra in Bihar when the event

occurred.

RPF Inspector B K Singh recognized the passenger as Akshay Kumar Soni, who

lives in Gohiya Chhapra hamlet near the Bairia police station.

The traveler was unable to provide a good explanation for the enormous quantity

of money he was carrying; therefore the funds were taken, according to

officials. The seizure was reported to the Income Tax Department, and Soni

received a notification under the relevant sections of the Income Tax Act. This

is the third significant cash seizure from a train passenger on the

Ballia-Chhapra line.

On August 4, the Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended Mohammad Mustafa,

a passenger on the Swatantrata Senani Express, at Ballia railway station and recovered Rs 53.96 lakh. On July

22, Rs 1.80 crore was taken from a Sabarmati-Darbhanga Express passenger.
