Lucknow, 30 Aug (HS): The double engine government is
continuously working for the upliftment of the nomadic pastoralist tribes
residing in Uttar Pradesh. They are getting direct benefits of various schemes
of education, health and employment. To honor their struggle and dedication
towards the country since the Mughal period, the government is celebrating August
31 as Vimukta Jatis Diwas. This information was given by Minister of State for
Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun on Saturday. He said that the
Social Welfare Department is organizing a program at Bhaagidari Bhawan in Gomti
Nagar on August 31 on the occasion of 74th Vimukta Jatis Diwas. Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath will attend it as the chief guest. Director of Social Welfare
Department Kumar Prashant said that on this occasion, land allotment and lease
will be distributed to such families of nomadic and Vimukta tribes who are
willing to adopt a permanent life. These families will be provided the facility
of housing construction under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Chief Minister
Awas Yojana.
Along with this, continuous work is being done to bring
them into the mainstream socio-economic system by providing financial
assistance and essential infrastructure facilities such as water, electricity,
toilets, road connectivity etc. This initiative will not only solve their
housing problem but will also ensure education for children, safety for women
and sustainable livelihood opportunities. In the program, a photo exhibition of
development schemes and great men related to the Vimukta Jatis will be
organized. Along with this, cultural programs related to the nomadic
pastoralist tribes will also be organized.
