Lucknow, 30 Aug (HS): The double engine government is

continuously working for the upliftment of the nomadic pastoralist tribes

residing in Uttar Pradesh. They are getting direct benefits of various schemes

of education, health and employment. To honor their struggle and dedication

towards the country since the Mughal period, the government is celebrating August

31 as Vimukta Jatis Diwas. This information was given by Minister of State for

Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun on Saturday. He said that the

Social Welfare Department is organizing a program at Bhaagidari Bhawan in Gomti

Nagar on August 31 on the occasion of 74th Vimukta Jatis Diwas. Chief Minister

Yogi Adityanath will attend it as the chief guest. Director of Social Welfare

Department Kumar Prashant said that on this occasion, land allotment and lease

will be distributed to such families of nomadic and Vimukta tribes who are

willing to adopt a permanent life. These families will be provided the facility

of housing construction under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Chief Minister

Awas Yojana.

Along with this, continuous work is being done to bring

them into the mainstream socio-economic system by providing financial

assistance and essential infrastructure facilities such as water, electricity,

toilets, road connectivity etc. This initiative will not only solve their

housing problem but will also ensure education for children, safety for women

and sustainable livelihood opportunities. In the program, a photo exhibition of

development schemes and great men related to the Vimukta Jatis will be

organized. Along with this, cultural programs related to the nomadic

pastoralist tribes will also be organized.
